John 7:19-24 (NIV)
19 Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”
20 “You are demon-possessed,” the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?”
21 Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed. 22 Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs), you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath. 23 Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath? 24 Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”
Greetings to you family with Jesus Joy,
When you look at your own life and examine the position in your Christian walk, do you see a person who holds the traditions of time within you because they were instilled in you to believe that there was no other way? Do you see the reflection of someone who understands that they must not be a stumbling block or the pothole in the path that can lead others to Christ? The argumemt in this text was whether or not the gentiles should receive salvation because they hadn’t went through the sacrificial process of being circumcised. Jesus in this text, had declared that because he healed a man on the sabbath doesn’t take away from the divine decision that God still chooses to heal because of what day it is! Jesus tells him that Moses gave them the doctrine of circumcision and they still perform this even on the sabbath. This was a cautious statement that awakened their regard to sanctification and salvation. So I say to you family, walk in the newness that God has declared over your life! Don’t let expired traditions ruin your encounter with The God of all generations! If you choose to come to church with your hair down ladies, instead of it being up, so be it! If you don’t feel like wearing a suit and tie men, so be it! If you choose to sit in another seat other than where you normally sit, go for it! The God that we serve never changes, but he has given us a refreshing of who he is by allowing us to experience him in “the now!” There’s absolutely nothing wrong with the traditions of old, but if they’re causing you to miss a mighty move of God that will change your life for eternity, then they need to be terminated and cut off from having the advantage of being in your life, while taking up space! Be blessed this week! I love you!
